In celebration of the festival’s decade, the exhibition Ten years of ED Awards gathered, for the first time, a selection of projects of the eight studios awarded with the higher prize of the competition, the European Design Agency of the Year: R2, representing Portugal, Raffinerie (Zurich), Ermolaev Bureau (Moscow), Jäger & Jäger (Überlingen), Silo (Hague), Les Graphiquants (Paris), Lava (Amesterdam) and Beetroot Design Group (Thessaloniki). All the collectives were invited to present several projects, having R2 chosen, among others, the award winning identities of National Theatre D. Maria II and 2016 edition of Lisbon Architecture Triennial, dedicated to the theme The Form of Form.
Simultaneously, the festival opened with Two Pages exhibition, a project launched in 2012 by the designers Konstantinos Trichas and Dionysis Livanis, with the aim of connecting the international creative community through the intervention in drawing sketches, and which already has more than 450 contributions. Lizá Ramalho and Artur Rebelo intervened on the first page of the Porto’s notebook.
And also Porto by Design, Design by Porto exhibition curated by Porto’s City Council Culture Department, and designed by the architect Tiago Casanova, that shows a retrospective of the last four years of design projects commissioned by the City Council, selection of which is part Fórum do Futuro, event identities designed by R2. This exhibit will stay open until July 30, 2017.
